Dec. 11 (Bloomberg) — On Nov. 29, eight hours after the last terrorist in the Mumbai attacks was gunned down, Sonia Gandhi summoned about 25 leaders of the ruling Congress party to her private study and ripped into them.
“We can no longer sit back and let these attacks overwhelm us,” said Gandhi, the 62-year-old party president. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his colleagues listened around a table, according to a party elder who attended the four-hour meeting. “The nation is looking to us for decisive action and determined leadership. We cannot afford to fail them.”
